ABOUT

Details
Blackson (b. 1983) was born in Uíge, province of Angola. He lives in Portugal since he was 8 years old.
He studied Painting in Budapest (2009-2012) and Architecture in Lisbon (2012), where he currently lives and works.
With a visual language in constant development, Blackson is inspired by the black body, which he represents in his paintings, and affirms in society. To this, he adds layers of color, creating sensations in the observer, which seem contradictory at first sight, but are harmoniously combined on the canvas. Between happiness and melancholy, harmony becomes the motto of his work and vision, where freedom and symbolism are recurrent and central aspects of his artworks.
Nowadays, he has been experimenting with new mediums in order to express his art such as tiles or installations.
